The short version
- Adsumu is for posting one photo a day to a small circle of friends. Your photos go only to the circles you pick. They're never public.
- We collect what the app needs to work: your phone number, name, birthday, username, the photos and words you post, and who you're friends with.
- We don't sell your information. We don't show ads, we don't use ad trackers, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't collect your location. The app removes hidden location data from photos before they leave your phone.
- We don't use face recognition, and we don't use your photos to train AI.
- Adsumu is for people 13 and older.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.
The rest of this page has the details. If anything's unclear, email [email protected].
This Privacy Policy explains how Adsumu LLC (“Adsumu,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the Adsumu iPhone app, the website adsumu.com, and anything else we offer that links to this policy (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this policy and to our Terms of Service.

1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your mobile phone number (to sign you in with a text code), your name, your username, your birthday, and a profile photo if you add one. Your birthday is used to confirm you're old enough and is never shown to other people.
- What you post: the photos you take in the app, captions, replies, props, nudges, and the circles you create or join (the circle's name, habit description, schedule, time window and length), plus votes and join requests.
- Your connections: friends, friend requests, who you block or mute, and which of your circles you show on your profile.
- Settings: your notification choices and similar preferences.
- Reports: if you report a photo, reply or account, we keep the report and the reason you picked.
- Messages to us: if you email us, we keep the email and your address so we can answer.
Information from your phone, only with your permission
- Camera: used to take your daily photo and, if you choose, your profile photo. Check-in photos are always taken live in the app.
- Photo library: used only if you pick a profile photo from your library, or ask the app to save a copy of your own photo to your camera roll. We don't look through your library.
- Contacts: if you allow it, the app sends the phone numbers in your contacts to our server to check which of them are already on Adsumu, then shows you the matches. We don't store those phone numbers, and the names in your contacts never leave your phone. We only keep a count of how many numbers you checked each day (to stop abuse), and we delete that count after about a week. If you invite someone, the app opens your Messages app with a ready-to-send text; we don't send it or keep a copy.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, Apple gives us a token to send them to your device.
Information collected automatically
- Sign-in information: your sign-in session is stored in your iPhone's Keychain so you stay signed in.
- Service records: like nearly every online service, our hosting providers record basic technical information when the app or website talks to their servers: IP address, time of the request, device and app type, and error details. We use this to keep the Service running and secure.
- Upload counts: we count uploads for about two days to stop spam.
- Photo details: we record when each photo was posted and to which circle. Before a photo leaves your phone, the app re-saves it, which strips out hidden data like GPS location and camera details.
We don't collect your precise or approximate location, we don't use third-party analytics or advertising tools in the app, and the adsumu.com website doesn't use cookies or tracking scripts.
Purchases
Adsumu Plus is free during beta testing. When we start selling it, payment will go through Apple. Apple handles your payment details; we only receive information about whether you have an active subscription. We'll update this policy before then if anything else changes.
2. How we use it
- To run the Service: sign you in, show your circles, deliver your photos to the people you chose, count streaks and weekly targets, and build your history, recaps and stickers.
- To help you find friends you already know (by username, name or contacts, if you allow it).
- To keep people safe: confirm age, enforce our Community Guidelines, review reports, prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and keep banned people off the Service. We may use automated tools to help find content that breaks our rules.
- To communicate with you: sign-in codes, account notices and answers to your questions. We don't send marketing texts.
- To fix problems and make Adsumu better.
- To follow the law and respond to valid legal requests.
Your circles and habits can say something personal about you, like your faith or your health goals. Only the people in that circle see them. We never use them for ads or to guess things about you.
3. Who can see what you post
- Photos, captions, replies and props in a circle are seen by the members of that circle. A private circle is just you. Photos are stored privately and are never posted on the open internet.
- Your name, username and profile photo can be seen by people you're connected to (friends, people in your circles, and people you've sent or received requests from), and any Adsumu member can find you by searching your name or username.
- Someone who already has your phone number in their contacts can find your Adsumu account if they use contact matching.
- Friends can see the circles you've chosen to show on your profile and your streaks with them. Hidden circles never appear on your profile.
- Your phone number and birthday are never shown to other members.
- If you block someone, you stop seeing each other's posts, replies and profiles.
Remember that people who can see your photos could take a screenshot, and anything you share outside Adsumu (for example, a share card or sticker posted to Instagram) is covered by that app's rules, not ours.
4. When we share information
We share information only in these cases:
- With service providers who run parts of Adsumu for us and may only use the information to do that work: Supabase (database, sign-in and photo storage, on Amazon Web Services servers in the United States), Twilio (sending sign-in text codes), Apple (the App Store, push notifications and, later, payments), Expo (the tools that build and deliver the app), Cloudflare (hosting and security for adsumu.com) and Google Workspace (our email).
- For safety and the law: when we believe in good faith it's needed to follow a law, subpoena, court order or other legal process; to protect someone from death or serious harm; or to investigate fraud or abuse of the Service. As U.S. law requires, we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), which works with law enforcement.
- If the business changes hands: if Adsumu is merged, sold or reorganized, information may move to the new owner, who must keep honoring this policy or tell you first.
- With your permission: for example, when you tap Share or Copy sticker to post something outside Adsumu.
5. Things we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are used in California law).
- We don't show ads, and we don't use advertising or tracking tools that follow you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't use face recognition or collect biometric information.
- We don't use your photos or posts to train artificial intelligence models.
- We don't collect your location.
6. How long we keep it
- We keep your information while your account is open.
- Retake: when you replace today's photo, the old photo is deleted.
- Deleting your account (You → Settings → Account and safety → Delete account) erases your photos, profile, birthday, friends, props, replies and the circles only you are in. Circles you lead with others pass to the new leader you pick. Copies left in our backups are gone within 30 days.
- What we may keep after you delete: reports you made (without your name attached); records we need to keep people safe and banned accounts off the Service; and anything the law requires us to keep (for example, material reported to NCMEC, which must be preserved for a set time). Our providers' technical records are deleted on their normal schedules.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and change your info: edit your name, username and profile photo in the app. Email us to correct anything you can't change yourself.
- Get a copy: save copies of your photos from the app (Delete account offers “Save a copy of my photos first”), or email us for a copy of your information.
- Delete: delete your account in the app, or email us.
- Permissions: turn off camera, photos, contacts or notifications any time in your iPhone's Settings → Adsumu.
- Control who sees you: hide circles on your profile, block or mute people, and leave circles.
Some U.S. states (for example California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and others) give their residents rights to know, access, correct, delete and get a copy of their personal information, and to opt out of its sale, targeted advertising and certain profiling. We don't sell personal information or use it for those purposes, and we honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live. Email [email protected] from anywhere; we'll confirm it's you (usually with a code sent to your account's phone number) and answer within 45 days. You can also have an authorized agent ask for you. If we turn down a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.
8. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), private photo storage that only opens through short-lived links for people allowed to see each photo, database rules that let each person reach only what they're allowed to, sign-in by text code with no passwords to steal, and your session kept in the iPhone Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise nothing will ever go wrong. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
9. Kids and teens
Adsumu is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Sign-up asks for your birthday and won't let anyone under 13 make an account. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we'll delete it. If you're a parent or guardian and think your child under 13 is using Adsumu, email [email protected] and we'll delete the account.
If you're 13 to 17, please get a parent's or guardian's permission before using Adsumu. Parents and guardians can email us to ask about or delete their teen's account. We don't show ads to anyone, including teens, and we don't sell anyone's information.
10. Where your information is stored
Adsumu is run from the United States and your information is stored in the United States. Adsumu is currently made for people in the United States.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. We won't use information we already have in a materially different way without your consent.
